RORY BURKE
ARTIST STATEMENT
I live in a mechanized world faced with the ethical issues of cloning, globalization, war, identity, and legacy. I create collections of cast multiples to explore these issues.
I use the figure (more specifically the head/bust) because it can directly reference the human condition. And when it comes to the human condition, mortality is the great equalizer.
As humans, we are all destined to surrender to our own mortality. Our legacy is our identity over time; it is what lasts.
