Kathy Moss studied at the New York Studio School in New York City and in 1990-91 she received the "Merit Scholar for Painting" award.
Since 1989 her work has appeared in nearly two dozen group exhibitions including four solo shows.
Her large untitled paintings of fragments of the natural world are dramatic statements; large flowers, seed pods, leaves and trees, very dark in color are set against tannish, varnished backgrounds. Deliberate spills, drips and pours make their way into her art and the imagery is decidedly "painterly".
Kathy asserts that she works in resistance to painting conventions. The result is a floating world in which the image drifts free.
